Spring Onions, Scallions 🥗

Spring onions and scallions are some of the easiest veggies to propagate as all they need is a jar of water and some sun to grow indefinitely.

Before you can jump to growing, you first need to sort out your onions or scallions, making sure that all of them have a least a few roots growing from the bottom. Take out any that don’t and save them for cooking later. The longer the roots are, the better for fast growth.

Then, trim the tops of the onions just above the point where the onions start to turn green. Place them in a glass of tap water with the water covering the roots and leave them by a sunny windowsill. Make sure to change the water two to three times a week.

It only takes a few days before you see the new growth and in about a week, you’ll have a bunch of new spring onion shoots.
